When you travel to one of the most dynamic cities in Europe, do not miss the opportunity to go shopping. Moscow shopping centers offer a wide range of products, from affordable brands to the most prestigious brands. In addition to the widespread European stores and popular representatives of the mass market, you should pay attention to local showrooms and novice Russian designers: you can often discover an original style and a fresh look at everyday and evening fashion, and at the same time take home a pleasant reminder of a trip to Russia.

It is especially tempting to make purchases during the sale: as in most countries of the world, winter discounts last from late December to mid-February, and summer discounts run from late June to mid-August. The schedule of shopping centers will pleasantly surprise many tourists: unlike Europe, shops in Moscow work on weekdays and weekends, opening at 9-10 a.m. You can pay for purchases in cash or by credit card; however, we recommend, just in case, to have cash in rubles with you if payment by card in the store is not possible.

Where to go shopping in Moscow?

TSUM

TSUM is a place of attraction for the most demanding customers, where on several floors a few steps from the unsurpassed Bolshoi Theater are the leading manufacturers of prestigious items of clothing, footwear, accessories and cosmetics. Fans of luxury shopping are also advised to look into boutiques in the historical center, in Stoleshnikov Lane or on the Kuznetsk bridge. Note that some brands offer unique models and designer collections, which can only be purchased in Moscow. However, one has to admit that buying world-class luxury brands is still much more profitable in Europe: due to the exchange rate and different pricing policies, the same product will be cheaper, say, in Paris or Milan, especially if you plan to go to a large outlet with seasonal offers.

Tourists from all over the world will definitely be interested in GUM, or the Main Department Store, which opened its doors back in the Soviet era. More than just a shopping center, this is a real attraction, preserving the historical appearance from the outside and inside. The GUM decoration is worth seeing with your own eyes: the glass ceiling of the gallery with wrought iron railings and elegant boutique design gives a special mood. This shopping center is pleasant to visit at any time of the year: on a warm summer afternoon, sit for a cup of coffee on the Bosco Café open veranda, and in winter, evaluate the festive, as in a fairy tale, lighting of the building opposite the Kremlin towers. The famous GUM ice rink appears right on Red Square, where you can go ice skating, surrounded by Christmas decorations and hundreds of lights with a view of the main Christmas tree of the country.

We already told you about where to buy souvenirs in Moscow. Today we share with travelers a selection of the most popular shopping centers in the capital. Numerous malls will be a good solution to combine several tasks at once: to shelter from the weather, buy new things for yourself or as a gift to relatives and friends, if you want to go to the cinema and take time for entertainment for the whole family, and after a snack in one of the cafes or the restaurant courtyard. So, we go on a journey towards fashion and desired purchases!

Okhotny Ryad

A trip to this famous shopping center, located on an underground level on Manezhnaya Square, is easy to combine with a visit to the main attractions of the city. The Okhotny Ryad is located near Red Square, the visiting card of the capital; Having visited the territory of the Kremlin, having tasted various cuisines of the world at the “Around the World” gastromarket and having taken a souvenir photo on a floating bridge in the nearby Zaryadye park, go on a shopping walk in the very heart of Moscow.

More than 100 popular stores, both Russian and international, are waiting for customers. In addition to the familiar Inditex network or sports goods from Nike or New Balance, pay attention to Russian manufacturers. In search of youth cosmetics and care products, look at “Mixit”, elegant women’s clothing — at “Love Republic”; budget basic clothes, which are sometimes relevant on a trip, can be found in “Yours”.

For a lunch break and rest, head to one of the restaurants, admiring the atrium stained-glass windows and fountains along the way: there are offers for every taste and budget, from the democratic “Chocolate Girl” with signature pancakes to the impeccable Italian cuisine in the neighboring “Bottega Siciliana”. After successful purchases, you can easily continue your acquaintance with Moscow, including by public transport: the metro station of the same name is connected to the shopping center via a pedestrian crossing.

European

One of the most modern and spacious shopping centers in the central district of Moscow, near the Kiev railway station, greets visitors with an extensive selection of the main categories of goods, a comfortable movie theater and an amusement park. It seems that everything is in the “European” — we advise you to allocate at least two to three hours to visit this mall.

Already at the main entrance of the guests, the unique design of the transparent elevators and fountains with lighting is impressive. The building itself resembles traditional Russian shopping arcades, and the modern embodiment of the project made of glass and concrete emphasizes the style of the new Moscow. Spacious lounges named after the main European capitals — London, Paris, Berlin, Rome — invite you to embark on an exciting adventure into the fashion world, combining leisure and current shopping trends in more than 500 stores at 8 levels. After a dizzying tour, relax in one of the cafes: for example, in the “Grand European Express” you will find yourself in the atmosphere of a vintage train compartment, and in “Varenichnaya No. 1” you will probably try one of the main dishes of Russian cuisine.

Evropeisky has a parking lot for 1200 cars and is located not far from the Expocenter international exhibition venue and cutting-edge Moscow City, a sensational business district with high skyscrapers, stylish restaurants and special energy. Going around all the shops you are interested in, continue your day in the heart of Moscow’s trade and business, at the same time glancing at a unique observation deck in one of the futuristic towers.

Metropolis

“Metropolis” is a shopping center in the spirit of a modern metropolis, which at the same time does not lose a pleasant atmosphere, convenience for visitors and a variety of choices without unnecessary fuss of the city. Sophisticated interior and plenty of light give a comfortable atmosphere even after a whole day of shopping marathon, and in winter the complex is especially beautiful in the lights of New Year’s lights. After updating the strategy and rebranding, this mall, located just 9 km from the center, significantly expanded its area and became a magnet for buyers in the northwestern part of the capital.

The balanced ‘Mix & Match’ concept allows you to find brands on three floors of the shopping gallery that you like, whether they are premium brands or a more affordable mass market. The restaurant space “The Loft” in the spirit of European food courts will be a great opportunity to take a break for lunch or a cup of coffee, and then you can look into a supermarket, beauty salon or movie theater.

More than 360 stores open their doors to visitors all year round, and an impressive 4,000-seat car park frees you from looking for a parking space in the city if you arrived not by taxi or car sharing. In addition, “Metropolis” often hosts interesting events with stars, promotions and “Shopping Night” with discounts and an entertainment program.
